| This page is to keep you updated on changes
to my website and to post things of interest.
May9th 2009 - I've just updated my Jake
Abroad page.
May 3d 2009 - I've recently recieved news that
I have a minny documentary in the special features of the movie "Reclaiming
the Blade" I sent them some footage
of me forging a sword and they edited it into a short doc. I
think they did a nice job. It's a pretty cool movie, you
can buy a copy at their website here - Reclaiming
the Blade
Here is a link to an interview I just had published
in the provicial Newspaper here in New Brunswick - Salon
Article
I've done a little sprucing up the the Celtic
Ogham and Nordic Runes pages.
Also I just posted a new page on a viking sword
I finished earlier this spring called Vardhllokur, this was a
significant piece for me I feel I'm really starting to understand
and reconstruct historical blade geometry and balance. here it
is Vardhllokur
July 15th 2008 - I have updated my homepage ,
the Swords page, the sticks page,
the jake abroad page with some
images of the hammerin at Owen Bushe's forge I attended in London
this spring as well as some stuff we got up to during Don Fogg's
sword course in London. Also I have a cudgel called the woods
ward up for sale on the Available page.
April 18 2008 - some updates to my website, I've just added a new link on the links page to Owen Bush's Bushfire Forge.
Aug. 9th 2007 - I have added a few things to the website. I added a movie to my movies page. the movie was filmed in 2005 so some of the specific info is dated, but they did a really nice job with it. It was filmed for a show called 'hand made' by Micheal Diot and runs about 15 minutes; you can see it here. I will be adding some other updates soon
Oct.23d 2006 - I just added a new page to my progress
section here It is a narrative
pictorial of the making of the Black UlJake and Anam a sword
and knife collaboration I did with Uli Hennicke a German bladesmith
and friend of mine. I have also updated my Jake Abroad page,
I finally added a picture of me receiving my award this spring;
I received the provincial emerging Artist of the year award
for 2005, which was a really big honour. At the award ceremonies
I met Allisa Palmer who was Directing "the Lord of the
Rings" stage production in
Toronto, and she invited me to go see it there, so at the end
of April I flew to Toronto to see the play and get a tour backstage,
and see the stage swords that they where using. Very interesting.
The play was very grand, and the hobbits where excellent, as
well as the orcs and crazy puppet horse black riders, it was
all a bit overwhelming for me, having been a huge tolkien fan
since I was a baby and my mum read me the LOTR. Anyway still
have quite a bit of work to do on the website, but little time.
I have to get back to the forge where I am working on a five
bar composite viking sword with a 30 some inch blade that is
two inches wide at the hilt. thanks for checking in.
