Blue Stick Bowl

Blue Stick Bowl is a result of the collision of a project I’ve been pursuing involving fragmented, reassembled ceramics, and a paper wasp nest I saw in a bush with branches running through it. It’s an intuitive piece and feels to me, aside from it’s visual impact, to be about my concerns with, and interest in, changing cultural values, aging, the power of nature… This was featured in the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery’s 25th anniversary exhibition, “Then, Now and Next”, uncomfortably situated in the gallery next to an exhibition titled “In Memorium” exhibiting work by artists who have left us behind.
